Passion Fruit | Passiflora edulis

Passiflora edulis, commonly known as Passion Fruit, is a fast-growing, evergreen vine prized for its exotic, aromatic fruit and beautiful ornamental flowers. The showy blooms feature white petals accented with a crown of purple and blue filaments, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The round to oval fruit has a tough outer rind and a sweet-tart, tropical pulp perfect for fresh eating, juicing, or desserts. This vigorous climber is ideal for covering fences, trellises, or pergolas while providing a lush, tropical look.

Growing Passiflora edulis

  • Light: Full sun for best fruit production; needs at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

  • Soil: Prefers fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter.

  • Water: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering and fruiting, but avoid waterlogging.

  • Maintenance: Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to control size, remove dead growth, and encourage new flowering wood.

  • Hardiness: USDA zones 9–11; thrives in warm, frost-free climates but can be grown in large containers in cooler areas and brought indoors during winter.

  • Wildlife: Highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Shipping Info
