Discoball Black Petunia | Petunia ‘Discoball Black’ | Black Petunia | Petunia ‘Discoball’

Discoball Black Petunia is a dramatic, highly sought-after summer annual prized for its velvety, deep purple-to-almost-black trumpet flowers that add unparalleled contrast and sophisticated moodiness to any garden setting. This vigorous, spreading selection is known for its multi-branching, mounded, and trailing habit that holds up beautifully throughout the season without becoming overly straggly. Its incredibly dark, rich blooms make it an unforgettable thriller and spiller for mixed patio containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, and modern landscape borders. With its bold, gothic appeal and reliable performance through summer heat, Discoball Black offers an extraordinary, non-stop display of uniquely dark color with straightforward care.

Growing Discoball Black Petunia

Light: Full sun; thrives in bright, direct sunlight (at least 6 hours per day) to produce the most abundant blooms and maintain a strong, heavily branched form.

Soil: Rich, well-drained soil; highly adaptable but performs best in a fertile, loamy mix or a premium potting soil amended with a slow-release fertilizer. It will not tolerate standing water or heavy clay.

Water: Moderate; water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, particularly for plants grown in containers or hanging baskets, which dry out faster in the summer heat. Avoid waterlogging the roots.

Maintenance: Exceptionally low maintenance. The vigorous, multi-branching stems produce self-cleaning flowers, meaning tedious deadheading is generally not required to maintain continuous blooming. Apply a balanced, bloom-boosting liquid fertilizer every couple of weeks to support its prolific growth from spring through the first frost.

Wildlife: Attractive to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds; generally deer-resistant.

Hardiness: Grown as a fast-growing summer annual in all USDA zones.
