Dallas Red Lantana | Lantana camara ‘Dallas Red’ | Shrub Verbena ‘Dallas Red’ | Lantana ‘Dallas Red’

Dallas Red Lantana is a vigorous, sun-loving evergreen shrub (grown as an annual in cooler climates) prized for its continuous display of vibrant, multi-colored flower clusters that open in fiery shades of deep red, bright orange, and warm golden-yellow. This exceptional selection from the Lantana family is known for its robust, upright-to-mounding habit, outstanding heat and drought tolerance, and nonstop flowering from late spring until frost. Its nectar-rich blossoms draw butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, making it a standout choice for hot, sunny landscape borders, mass plantings, mixed patio containers, and coastal gardens. With its textured, aromatic green foliage and reliable performance in harsh, dry conditions, Dallas Red offers bold, tropical color and rugged durability with minimal maintenance.

Note: The unripened berries that follow the flowers are toxic if ingested, so plant with care around pets and small children.

Growing Dallas Red Lantana

Light: Full sun; requires strong, direct sunlight to produce the most abundant blooms and develop the deepest, most vibrant red coloration.

Soil: Well-drained soil; highly adaptable to various soil types, including poor, sandy, or rocky soils, but will not tolerate soggy, waterlogged roots.

Water: Low; water regularly until established, after which it becomes exceptionally drought-tolerant, requiring supplemental watering only during severe, prolonged dry spells. Allow the soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings.

Maintenance: Low maintenance. Deadheading is not strictly necessary but can encourage continuous blooming and prevent energy from going into seed production. A light mid-summer shear can rejuvenate the plant and maintain a dense, bushy shape.

Wildlife: Highly attractive to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds; highly resistant to deer and rabbits due to its rough, aromatic foliage.

Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 8–11; grown as a fast-growing annual in cooler regions.
