Giles Van Hees Speedwell is a charming, sun-loving herbaceous perennial prized for its spectacularly compact, dwarf habit and dense profusion of bright, clear pink flower spikes that rise just above neat mounds of deep green foliage. This exceptionally tough, heat-tolerant selection is known for its remarkable early-to-midsummer bloom time and low-growing form that stays perfectly tidy without flopping. Its nectar-rich blossoms are an absolute magnet for butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, making it a spectacular, low-maintenance thriller and edger for sunny landscape borders, rock gardens, and mixed patio containers. Growing Giles Van Hees Speedwell
Light: Full sun to partial shade; thrives in bright, direct sunlight (at least 6 to 8 hours per day) to produce the most abundant blooms, the strongest stems, and maintain a tight, compact form.
Soil: Light, well-drained soil; highly adaptable to average soils as long as drainage is excellent. It is extremely susceptible to root rot in heavy, waterlogged clay, especially during the cold, wet winter months.
Water: Moderate; water regularly until established, then allow the top few inches of soil to dry out completely between waterings. It is reasonably drought-tolerant once mature but performs best with consistent moisture during extended dry, hot spells.
Maintenance: Exceptionally low maintenance. Deadhead spent flower spikes promptly by cutting them back to the basal foliage to encourage a continuous, prolific second flush of blooms later in the summer and maintain a tidy appearance.
Wildlife: Highly attractive to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds; naturally deer- and rabbit-resistant.
Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 4–8; exceptionally cold-hardy and reliable across a wide range of climates provided it has excellent winter drainage.

Plant arrived quickly and came in good shape!
Package came delivered just like it said it would I pulled it out it looked good. I put it in some water for about a half hour and put it in my 30 gallon tub and I got three things to go with it.
Banana tree came nice and healthy and ready to go!

Plants arrived in great condition. This plant has only been in the ground about 10 days and is growing a lot. The plant cage is 12” tall so it’s doing well. I put guards around my new plants for a little while because I have bunnies who love tender young leaves.

I got 2 mystery plants (one indoor and one outdoor). The indoor was a pilea and the outdoor plant was a white blackberry. White blackberry was dramatic, but it’s making a comeback and the pilea is doing great!

The plant arrived after a few delivery reroutes. It came with three leaves two so far are healthy one was dying and has since died. The two remaining leaves appear to be doing well.
