Tricolor Rhoeo | Rhoeo discolor ‘Tricolor’ | Tricolor Moses in the Cradle | Rhoeo ‘Tricolor’

Tricolor Rhoeo is a striking, tender perennial (widely grown as a house plant in cooler climates) prized for its vibrant, sword‑like leaves that feature crisp stripes of green, white, and pink on the upper surface with rich, vibrant purple undersides. This eye‑catching selection is known for its compact, clumping habit and exceptional performance in both warm, humid conditions and indoor environments. Its dramatic foliage makes it a standout choice for mixed containers, shaded patio planters, window sills, and modern indoor plant collections. With its bold, architectural form and resilient nature, Tricolor Rhoeo offers vibrant color and tropical texture with minimal maintenance.

Growing Tricolor Rhoeo

Light: Bright, indirect light to partial shade; thrives in well‑lit indoor spaces or dappled outdoor light, which helps maintain the most vibrant pink and white variegation. Avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun which can scorch the leaves.

Soil: Rich, well‑drained soil or potting mix; prefers a light, airy mix to ensure excellent drainage and prevent root rot.

Water: Moderate; water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. It prefers consistent moisture during the growing season but is relatively drought‑tolerant once established. Reduce watering slightly in the winter.

Maintenance: Exceptionally low maintenance. Remove any older, faded, or dead leaves at the base to keep the plant looking fresh. It naturally forms dense clumps that can easily be divided when repotting.

Wildlife: Deer‑resistant when planted outdoors; keep away from pets as the sap can cause mild irritation if ingested.

Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 9–11; widely grown as a year‑round house plant in cooler regions.

Shipping Info
