Desert Eve Terracotta Yarrow | Achillea millefolium ‘Desert Eve Terracotta’ | Terracotta Yarrow | Achillea ‘Desert Eve Terracotta’
Desert Eve Terracotta Yarrow is a striking, sun-loving herbaceous perennial prized for its compact, early-blooming habit and its spectacular, large, flat-topped clusters of tiny flowers that emerge a rich, earthy terracotta-orange and mature to warm, creamy earthy tones. This vigorous, heat-loving selection is known for its remarkable drought tolerance and finely cut, fern-like, aromatic green foliage. Its nectar-rich blossoms are an absolute magnet for butterflies and bees, making it a spectacular, low-maintenance thriller for sunny landscape borders, rock gardens, and mass plantings. With its bold, earthy color and reliable performance in the harshest heat, Desert Eve Terracotta offers an extraordinary display of vibrant summer blooms with exceptionally straightforward care.
Growing Desert Eve Terracotta Yarrow
Light: Full sun; thrives in intense, direct sunlight (at least 6 to 8 hours per day) to produce the most abundant blooms, the strongest stems, and maintain a tight, compact form.
Soil: Light, well-drained soil; highly adaptable to poor, sandy, or gravelly soils as long as drainage is excellent. It is extremely susceptible to root rot in heavy, waterlogged clay or overly rich, wet soils.
Water: Low; water regularly until established, then allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. It is exceptionally drought-tolerant once mature and strongly dislikes consistently wet feet.
Maintenance: Exceptionally low maintenance. Deadhead spent flower stalks down to the basal foliage to encourage a continuous, prolific flush of new blooms throughout the summer and prevent self-seeding. The plant can be divided every few years in early spring to maintain vigor.
Wildlife: Highly attractive to butterflies, bees, and other beneficial pollinators; naturally deer- and rabbit-resistant due to its highly aromatic foliage.
Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 4–9; exceptionally cold-hardy and reliable across a wide range of climates.
